Can DTF Transfers be removed?

In short....yes. Is it the easiest, mess-free, convenient process? Not so much. Your success will depend on the size and complexity of your artwork. However, if you find yourself ready to try it out here is what you'll need to do.

Start by getting VLR-Vinyl Letter Remover or you can use Acetone. You'll also need a clean rag or t-shirt. You'll first want to apply the solvent in a test area to check if the garment is going to bleed it's color. If it doesn't bleed you can proceed with the process.

  1. Apply the solvent to the rag and then to the actual transfer so it can absorb and then after 10 seconds you can start rubbing at the transfer with the goal of peeling the ink away from the shirt. This will happen in bits and pieces so here is where the mess comes in. Just keep soaking your rag and then soaking and rubbing at the design.
  2. Once all the ink is removed you can work in one directional motions to remove the final bits of adhesive. How much effort you put into removing the residue is up to you. Keep in mind a lot of blemishes will be covered up with a new design.
  3. After letting it air dry you can come back and apply a new DTF Transfer at normal application.
